Why I coach

Strength Gave Me Freedom

I got into training because I realized that being physically strong gives me something much bigger than just a change in how my body looks. It gives me freedom. That word is not decoration for me. It is the whole reason I do this work, and it is the reason I coach the way I coach.

I feel most alive outdoors. Hiking, exploring, camping, pushing myself physically — those are the places where I found out what strength is actually for. When you are four miles in with a pack on and the climb keeps going, nothing about your body's appearance matters. What matters is whether your legs will hold, whether your back will carry the load, whether your lungs will settle. Out there, strength stops being a look and becomes a currency. It buys you more of the world.

The first time I noticed it, it was not a dramatic moment. It was a trail I had turned around on before, and then one day I did not have to. Same trail, different body, completely different life. I want to be capable of hiking farther, exploring places that challenge me, getting outside, and living my life without feeling limited by my body. Once you get a taste of that, you cannot unlearn it.

The moment I knew I wanted to do this for other people was when I realized how much I enjoy learning about the body and putting that knowledge into practice. I am the kind of person who wants to know why a movement works, what the tissue is doing, why one person's hip cooperates and another's does not. Study it long enough and you stop handing out workouts and start solving specific problems for specific people. That is the part I love. That is the part that does not get old.

My faith is a big part of who I am, and it changes how I show up as a coach. It keeps me grounded and reminds me that our worth is not defined by our appearance, accomplishments, or circumstances. If I actually believe that — and I do — then I cannot coach with shame, and I cannot sell you the idea that you will finally be enough at a certain number. You are already a whole person. Training is not the price of admission to being worth something. It is a way to get more out of the life you already have.

There is also an entrepreneurial streak in me. I like building things from the ground up, learning new skills, and turning ideas into something real. Wild and Rooted Training exists because I wanted to build something with purpose behind it, in a town I care about, for people who have been sold a lot of noise and not much help.

All of those parts connect, and they connect in the training. Because I coach for the outdoors, your program is built for real-world strength — carrying, climbing, getting up, going farther — not just for what shows in a mirror. Because of my faith, I am going to meet you where you are and encourage you rather than break you down. Because I am a builder, I am not going to hand you a generic template; I am going to construct something around your goals, your body and the week you actually live.

Most of the women I work with are not trying to become athletes. They want to feel strong and confident in their bodies again. They want energy, capability, and the ability to do the things they love without feeling limited. That is the same freedom I went looking for on a trail, just pointed at a different life.

For me, personal training is not just about workouts or numbers on a scale. It is about helping people become strong and capable enough to live the life they truly want. If that sounds like what you are after, I would like to hear where you are starting from.
